This school is on a traditional 9-month schedule now. Art, music, p.e., and computer lab are taught separately from the regular classroom by different teachers. My kids have excelled at at this school and scored high on standardized tests. There are some excellent teachers at the school; I think its rating reflects the population of the Ogden area more than the instructors' ability.

We've had great teachers and the children really love the school. Our principal wants to be there and enjoys the students

West Clinton Elementary is a good school, although it is getting a little crowded. There are about five portable classrooms outside that the 5th and 6th graders use. The student to teacher ratio is not the greatest either. Teachers at the school tend to be above average. One thing to note is that the school is a year round school so kids will not have the typical summer vacation. Music and art are taught by the class teachers, and there is a seperate P.E. class weekly. As far as Utah schools go, West Clinton is above the norm!

If you truly mean a shy kid who wants to be outgoing, then I would help them interact with one child at a time. If you are talking about an introverted child, refer to http://www.carlkingdom.com/10-myths-about-introverts

Find something you are good at or enjoy doing a lot, just one thing. You'll gain confidence and meet other kids that enjoy that activity too. Mine was singing in choir. I wasn't good at anything else but that built my confidence for other things... More »
