My daughter went to West and liked it very much. And in talking with the teachers there during conferences, I was impressed with how they seemed to see each child as an individual and really care about each child.

I have huge concerns with the communication issues, disapline differences, low school spirit and accademic concerns that are on going and on the downward slide. On paper it is two schools that are separated for a handful of sports. We are only school that has gone this route which is a clear sign of it's lack of success. The schools are already combined for academics, extra circular and as the years go on certain sports due to a low participation. It is very frustrating that as a city and school board we fail to consider all of the aspects involved and more concerned with perception vs facts. This will continue to affect the success of our schools moving forward in academics, athletics and co-curricular activities.

I think that the school is great in its offering. I has plenty of extracurricular and AP classes. I have found however that it has one major drawback. I have a daughter that is classified as 'at risk' and has a very tough time at school. My experience is that there is poor communication with parents. Often I had problems getting through to teachers by phone and with one teacher numerous e-mail responses weren't returned until I got he vice-principal involved. On a positive note though. This year for the first time they added an online program to help monitor your children from attendance to assignments and test scores. I am hoping this additional resource will make a difference and show the are indeed concerned about the problem that I stated.
