I am a parent of a 14-year old 5th grader that attends Southern Hills.I am pleased to say that Southern Hills is the best public elementary school in Shreveport, behind Forest Hill Elementary. It should be a 5-star public school and the academics should be top of the line!
My son goes to this school and I must say he has a GREAT teacher! She lets my husband and I know daily how he is doing and what he needs to work on. We need more teachers that take that kind of pride in their teaching.

My child attend this school last year for the first time and he really enjoyed being there. The teachers and staff are very helpful. This is a great school. He will go here until he leave the 5th grade.

My child has attended this school for 4 years now, and we have been very happy with the teachers as well as the administration. Our oldest child has several health issues that make school a bit more challenging, but the staff at this school has done so much to keep our child safe and healthy. The principal knows each of her students, as well as the parents that regularly come to the school. It's wonderful to go onto campus each day and be greeted by, if not our names, by 'so-and-so's mom'. When there is a problem with traffic control, both the principal and the teachers jump right into assisting with traffic. I've seen the principal out in the street, standing in her hose in the flooded road, directing traffic. We are eager to enroll our youngest child at this school, as well. Thanks, Southern Hills, for a wonderful environment.
