Amelia HS has improved greatly over the past two years. It takes a strong leader to bring about such changes. Keep up the good work.

Amelia is a horrible school, And so is the idea of the small school system. With this in effect, you miss the whole high school experience. Throughout your 4 years of education you only are around the same people, usually those that are in your Small school. So you don't meet a variety of people. Also the small school system is just another reason to seperate people into cliques. And Since when is worksheet after worksheet been a method of TEACHing? I'm not saying that all of the teachers employed at this school aren't good at what the do, but there is a fairly large number of them that aren't. Our school is in debt by a LARGE amount of money, and will find any way to skim you out of some. The discipline method at this school is also very ineffective. I think this school is stuck with its reputation.

I went to Amelia and graduated 07'. The idea of small school is amazing but because of the lack of funding towards the schools, small school falls sort. The school needs more long term teachers, needs a new atmosphere, and really a new start. I think the new principal right now needs time too do the things needed to help Amelia back on it's feet, it's been awhile since we had a principal longer than one year. Amelia rep I think tends to wane on a lot of the students because they hear not only students from other schools, but other adults put down Amelia. I think some the right funding, a stable principal, and some more spirit, (all three that is lacking at the moment) that the school would better serve the community and most importantly the students that go there.

I believe that the small schools system is an amazing thing. The only reason in which I had the chance of graduating was due to small schools. I slacked off the first three years of high school and small schools allowed me to earn the 13 1/2 credits that I needed to graduate.

A blog by nature is public territory. If you don't want something to be public knowledge, don't post it on the internet.
