Generally, Pleasant Gap Elementary is a good school in a safe neighborhood. The school has (usually) 2 classes per grade level (K-5), but has added a 3rd class in specific grades when needed to keep student/teacher ratio low. Administrative support staff is wonderful and helpful (note, new school secretary in 2009). While I disagree with the principal on some specific issues related to my children, she is open to discussing issues with parents. Some of the teachers are wonderful, experienced and generally great people. Low student/teacher ratio makes for better test scores... the proof is here! Music programs are good for elementary level, with general music in the lower grades, plus elementary band and orchestra in 4th and 5th grades. Resources (teachers, aides, reading specialists, special rooms, etc) for kids with challenges/issues/needs. However, the school only has a limited capability to provide challenging curriculum for exceptional or bright students.
