We recently moved here from out of state. So far I have been impressed with my daughter's teacher, Mrs. Schlenz. She is very upbeat and seems to go above and beyond to keep the kids interested and learning. My only real complaint is that there seems to be a lot of bullying and the lunch/recess teachers either won't deal with it or don't know how to deal with it. However, the counselor is wonderful. She works very hard at showing the kids who need it techniques to deal with the bullies and build their confidence.

WPS is lacking in many areas. The school is dirty, supervision is lacking and the principal needs to step up his performance. The only subject areas the school puts any focus on are reading and writing. Math and Science are afterthoughts and poorly taught. I would have my son in private school if we could afford the tuition as I have been very dissapointed with WPS.

I have four kids, two of which have been in this school. I have the utmost confidence in the teaching staff and leadership at WPS. My children have had wonderful experiences and I would recommend WPS to anyone but wouldn't mind keeping it a secret. I love the small town feel.

I go in every Monday and help with the Kindergarten reading group or play word games. Then I eat lunch with my child. I also attend and bring things to all school parties. Since I volunteer only on Mondays I do not burn out. : )

Our school gives us mandatory hours (15) that we must give to the school in one way or the other. It is very easy if you don't mind stuffing envelopes or being a lunch mom. I think they even give working moms the opportunities to work on paperwork.... More »
