Shreve Island Elementary School

I am so sad that some parents say negative things about Shreve Island! I have been a parent of two students there for the last 4 years, and I couldn't be happier! I am an educator, too, and I wouldn't put my kids anywhere else. Both of my kids tested in the magnet elementary schools in Shreveport, but we chose to put them there b/c of the teachers, the environment, the other kids, and, most importantly, the educations they are receiving. The teachers, administrators, and the faculty are top notch!

This school offers a mediocre approach for the mediocre child. My child's teacher, counselor, and principal (Stanford), are more interested in defending the abstract notion that their school is 'great' than helping my child succeed. We are transferring out as soon as possible.

i agree with the person who said its over crowded. It is a joke. We are leaving, possibly for private school because we arent learning anything . The teacher is too busy trying to keep order in the class room than to teach. I disagree with the warm enviroment, It is very stuck up and feels uncomfortable to say the least.

Shreve Island is a great school. Wonderful, caring, educated staff, who know what they are doing. What's bringing this school down is the parents. A lot of them let the teaching stay in school. They need to continue to work with their child at home, but they don't. Society is changing, high divorce rate, single parent homes. These people are using a year round school as a means to avoid summer day care costs. Shreve Island is a great school!!!!!!
