I am moderately happy at YACS. My child is in a class of 25!!! Why do I send her to private school when the class is almost as large as public school? How can a child get questions answered and really understand in such a large group? I am working to support the school, but I am frustrated.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our year at this school! Our daughter was in Kindergarten last year and we are planning on staying as long as we are in the area. She has grown so much- intellectually, socially, and spiritually. She's encouraged to ask insightful questions about the world around her and also to try and think for herself with caring guidance and instruction. This was a rough year for her, as she started at the school with no friends from pre-k. Within a week she had smiles on her face from the time she woke up! This is the first year that she's actually liked school at all! In February, I had brain surgery and was in the hospital for a week. The school team really reached out to us with care and prayers. They helped her deal with her anxiety wonderfully. We feel really blessed!
I have a child that goes to YACS and has for at least 5 years. Great spiritual growth. However, they are not equipped to deal with gifted or extreme creative kids. They are made to feel that they are immature and are pulled from honors classes or not given the opportunity for honors classes. This separates them from their friends and causes self-esteem issues. When a child shows extreme high scores in testing, Parents should have a say if they want their child in honors. Sometimes, the gifted needs extra challenge to work harder rather than just barely studying and getting by if not in honors. Needs a chess team, a debate team and please keep the art teacher. Wonderful arts now with culinary, art and drama. My child loves chapel and bible. Principals take personal interest in students and their success. Awesome.
