I have put three children through the Montessori program. The program is certainly not perfect, but I felt it was a benefit for our children overall. The teachers are excellent in the Montessori program. I cannot say enough positive things about the Cooper Montessori staff. Most of the standard classroom teachers support the program, however there are some exceptions. The biggest drawback to the Montessori program at Cooper continues to be a lack of understanding of the basic and essential characteristics that need to be in place for a Montessori classroom to teach the Montessori method. This lack of understanding is expressed by some teachers, parents and unfortunately administration as well. Still, overall the program had a lot to offer when our children went through it 3 years ago.

Both of my daughters went through the Montessori Program and I cannot say enough good things about it. They have both grown into two fine young ladies, assets to the community. Always will to help and always wanting to learn more. They only drawback I see is that as a working mom, I have yet to attend a music concert because they will only put them on during the school day

We have found that the separate Montessori and regular programs may be wonderful for the Montessori students, but our child was in a regular classroom. In kindergarten, he was made to do activities that were not developmentally appropriate. In first grade this year, it seems as if each child is supposed to fit in a box and there is no accommodations for individual differences and development.

No. I have heard of teachers setting up FB pages on areas of study so students can use technology as a learning tool. All posts are public and private messages are disabled. I won't even friend former students. I do it as a rule-no hurt feelings.

No! As an educator, I don't want to be held responsible for what students are doing outside of the classroom.

Absolutely not. Most schools offer the homework question site through the school system. They do not need to be "friends" with their students through social networking sites.
