The staff at this school is not only incompetent, but have very poor speaking and communicating skills. As a graduate of Blanche Ely High School, I have experienced first hand inappropriate behavior, not only from the teachers, but also from the administration. This school is very understaffed and many of the over-worked and over-stressed administrators do not pay attention to the students and their needs. As a former senior of this school, I struggled on a daily basis to recieve transcripts to apply for college and scholarships. I only met with my guidance counselor once for the whole entire year. I had no support nor any help in getting prepared for my collegiate transition. Contrary to the "no student left behind" motto, many students from this school has been left behind.

Blanche Ely High School is an excellent school in academics and extra-curriculum events. Principal, Karlton O. Johnson has empowered the community and school to the next level of academic achievement. The faculty and staff are nurturing and loving and instill in the students hope and challenging experiences. My child has developed into a professional, assertive and outstanding student. I am proud of the BEHS Spirit and recommend this school of tradition and hertiage to all parents for the magnet and regular program for your child or children.

We test kids at the end of the year and beginning. Kids that don't keep up during the summer take a giant step backwards. If our kids do complain about homework, we ask them,"Do you want to work for a company, or own the company?"

No. Let the children have a break. Let their minds focus on being children. They'll have plenty of homework when they go back to school. I would not even consider enforceing summer homework for my children. They need stress free playtime.

Yes. Of course summer is for fun however they can take a brake from homework 2 weeks or so, not the whole summer. If you teach a child the importance of learing they will enjoy the homework even in the summer.
