Altho I have rated this high school as 'average', I see many promising signs that it will improve. We now have a superintendemt with a plan to involve the entire teaching staff with a goal to improve our OAT scores; we have a completely new school board that is made up of people with kids in the system as well as a couple who can speak to the concerns of taxpayers in the district who do not have school-age kids; and all 5 of them seem sincere in their desire to see our school system succeed. I am encouraged for the future! We have a great group of teachers, and our new administrators are ready to lead their buildings foward for the benefit of the kids and community. It's an exciting time to be in the Swanton Local High School !

There was a point in time when I looked forward to sending my child to Swanton High School. The teaching staff was wonderful, they were very inovative, they used creative teaching styles (the best thing going was the block schedule) then two years ago a chance in the Administration and School board has led Swanton on a steady downfall. Individuals who have been hired to lead the school system has taken it back 50 years. What was once an innovative school system is now the joke of Northwest Ohio. Poor decisions in Administrative personal is leading this school to some serious problems for the future. Sad to say I do not want my child exposed to this type of education. Speaking to a few of the veteran staff members, the teacher morale is at a all time low. Submitted by a concerned parent.

Well, I think that comment posted in April of 2005 was very rude. The teachers at Swanton High School are anything except rude to the students. I am a student there and happen to love the school system. Although, there are some things that could use some improvement, the brand new building is beautiful. Swanton High School is an amazing choice. The criminal level or gang rate, is extrememly low!

You get what your tax dollars pay for! Excellent school for the money in my opinion.

Check to see if students with disabilities are a priority because otherwise the state doesn't pay for that child to go to School if they don't have a disability your child has to be put on a waiting list for pre-k! if their not

1.Go on a tour of a school tour 2. Talk to the director (and the teacher your child will have) about what the students day like. 3. Watch school in session 4. Look out for red flags: neglected children at play, lazy, non engaging teachers
