This is not a very good school. My son has been here for 3 years and they do not give the kids the help they need. they worry more about suspending the kids then helping them. I would not recommend this school.

the albert shanker school for the performing arts is not one i would send a dog to. in my opinion the dance academy is the worst academy there is in that school. the after school program is the best one. there should be more intervention for our children to pass the standardized testing. the pta is a joke. there are only about 3-4 parents that go to pta meetings other parents dont care. i forsee this school being shut down in the future if something isnt done. Like Yesterday!

Level of parent involvement is meaningless. I went to a PTA meeting and there were 4 parents there. The quality of academic programs depends on the student, but the school is so unorganized, and do not live up to their word. It is a Need of Improvement school, where your child is entitled to receive free home tutoring that I have yet too see. My child has failed to do work, and not ONE teacher called me until months later, when it was time too pickup report cards. The dance academy was the only decent sort of speak part of the school. Other than that, as a parent, I DO NOT recommend this school at all.

Rt@fpluto, that's so horrid. My heart goes out to your kids.Do u mind if I ask what school system you're in, I maybe able to get some answers for you if I knew. I recently moved to the Beech Grove district. Meanwhile, I will pray for your family.
