There does seem to be genuine enthusiasm on the part of a certain percentage of the student body but I detected an underlying current of fear from a larger segment of the student body. It seems that there are two factions of students at war with each other here, something that really needs to be addressed soon.
I think Scranton High School is the best because it has a great academic and sports programs. All three of my grandchildren have or are attending this school and are doing very well with their grades. It is a school that is color blind as far as the student population goes. There are many opportunities to make new friends of many different heritages. Which is a great step for better world peace and understanding. I think that they deserve to win this prize. B
This school and the administration are FIRST CLASS!! I woudln't send my student to any other school in the area. My student left here with a top of the line education and attending a Ivy League school and graduated with a 3.8. Way to go SHS!
My son is going into his Sophomore year and we have had nothing but problems with the staff of the high school. With one or two exceptions. My son is autistic and we have not gotten any support for his disability, have been told there is nothing to evaluate him with his behavioral difficulties (although the IDEA law says otherwise) and he has been repeatedly let down by staff and administration. If we could afford a private school, we would move him in a heartbeat. We are in the process of finding other families in similar situations to get support and ideas on how to move forward. As for support OUTSIDE of school - he is in therapy 10 hours a week. I would not recommend this school to anyone with a child with any learning difficulties -but its a great one for the 'star athlete'.
