Emerson is an amazing school. Despite a crippling national fiscal crisis, Emerson has the lowest student ratio in the district for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. It has been able to hold onto it's Music, PE, Science and other special programs. The teachers are wonderful. This is the 6th year my children have been at Emerson and I truly believe one of the best schools in a district full of excellent schools.

I really love this school. My daughter is now in 1st grade and I have nothing but positive things to say about the school. The reponses from the principal and teachers is amazing. You leave a message and your call is returned immediately. All of the staff is amazing including the coachies and Kids club staff.

Unfortunately the previous review is written by a bitter parent who has left the school. The entire Long Beach School District requires uniforms for their students. Emerson in fact has more choices than most of the schools as the students may wear plaid, dark blue, or tan bottoms and white or dark blue logo shirt. Our school like all in California have had to make painful choices. Yes it's true that this year our 4th and 5th will have 25 students. But the bitter poster has her facts wrong that most school in the area have far more, often over 30 children in their 4th and 5th grades. Parent participation is as strong as ever and is required. Many of us volunteer hundreds of hours rather than the required 25. There is a strong PTA at Emerson that supports the school and puts on great events. Emerson is a wonderful school.
