Dr.Ray & Mrs. Ford & staff has done a great job, worked hard, care about student's learning, safety, welfare & discipline so students can be well rounded as maturing students. School has come a long way, making improvements, community & parents can be proud. More parents need to see importance of being involved in their child's life as far as education, and life structure, it would greatly help students as well as teachers to help to educate the students &improve their abilites in learning. Setting up a class for parents to get a GED, shows they care about parents too. how can you rate total quality on teachers, when there are so many teachers, school grade shows quality.. Way to go JHW... What more can be said about Leadership, Teachers, when the school grade is an A... it says something for all involved
My son currently attends JHW and my daughter spent four years at the school. JHW recently became a charter school and has retained its academic excellence. The principal just rec'd her doctorate and everyone calls her Dr. Ray and the kids love her. The teachers are caring and my son has a laptop assigned to him in 4th grade and will have it in 5th grade too. Not all classrooms receive one but they hope to have more added. Like all parents I have had one or two run-ins with having to personally visit the principal's office either about an incident with my child or another, and Dr. Ray is so helpful and caring and takes a position on the parents' side. She is all for parent's involvement and the entire school encourages it. My son went from D's and F's from the last school to making straight A's here.
This will be the second year my child is attending this school, when i enrolled her last year she had missed the first 2 days of school because of shot records being transferred from another state, but when they gave her a teacher she was passed around to 6 different ones including substitutes, then when she finally got her permanate one i was told she was behind in her work, before she even started she knew all her letters numbers her whole name she could spell ,ect. She became shy with the teachers since there was always a new one she had no time to bond then they still failed her because she couldn't spell 8 letter words ,get real people,no child left behind? I feel mine was, then pushed the graduation on them told them to cross the bridge to 1st grade then tell them the last day of school they weren't going to 1st.
My child has attended J.H.W. now for 2 years, I feel like she has learned alot and she enjoys going to school there. The teachers have been great so far. The staff at J.H.W. is overall friendly and trys to help you in the best way fit. I love the color of disipline that they have. (Blue is good, etc.) I think this gives the children a goal to accomplish. It has worked for my child. I think the reading and computer lab is great. I was so happy to see them on the computers being so young. Overall , I say Great job!
