Not having junk food is a state regulation, not a school based one. If other classes or schools in the county are serving these things, they are probably not following the state mandate. The last few years, the kids went outside for most of the winter due to how mild they have been. I'm unsure what happened, but I can't believe that children are not allowed to ask questions. I don't think it is appropriate to make a blaket statement like that. Another issue that pops up a lot is parental involvement. Who ever said that parents had to be at school? My job is to make sure my kids know what they need to know at home, in order to be ready for school, and to follow up with educational and dicsiplinary decisions. Let the professionals do their job. Mine are no longer there, but I loved Blue Ridge!

I love this school because they are focussed on preparing the children for real life. But they don't let them be kids! Why aren't the children allowed to bring in cupcakes or even cookies for their birthday? And why are the teachers the ones that choose if they have field day? That shouldn't be an option at all! They are couped up inside all Fall, Winter and Spring time because of the weather or hunting. Why on Earth would you keep them inside on wonderful days! Mrs. Zigler does what she can to keep the parents happy but when I had a complaint reguarding the teacher it seemed like she wasn't listening. Id on't like how they are so strict on the students that they aren't even allowed to ask questions! Why are the teachers there if the students can't ask questions?

I wish all elementary schools were as wonderful as this one. Mrs. Zigler is very attentive to the students. She clearly loves the children in her care. My daughter attended first grade there and was assigned to Ms. Webster's class. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. My daughter is bipolar/adhd and was struggling during the school year. Mrs. Zigler and Ms. Webster worked closely with us and made her feel comfortable and accepted. I wish all teachers were as caring as Ms. Webster. They go out of their way to keep the parents informed and involved in the kids daily routine. Unfortunately we moved and my daughter no longer attends this school but we are forever grateful for the help and understanding they provided for my daughter.
