This is our 4th year with children in Plain City Elementary. We absolutely love it. It is such a caring environment for the children. The principal is attentive and knows the children by name, and yet is a great disciplinarian also. She is a great asset. They are in an amazing new building starting this year...bigger classrooms, wonderful amenities. And the school district is rated "excellent with distinction." The money is managed so well while giving the kids a great education. Parents are involved in attending school music programs, etc. as well as class parties with room mothers, etc. We are also very happy with the education the kids are getting from the teachers. Yes, they are given daily planners starting in 2nd grade...such a good idea. If a child tests well in certain areas, there are programs and methods of challenging them further. We are very blessed to be at PCE.

My child attended PC Elem in 2003 as a fifth grader. We were very pleased with the entire staff and the curriculum. All of the fifth grade teachers worked together as a 'team'. The uniformity between the teachers of different subjects made following directions easier for the children. Each child was provided with a student planner for the school year. This tool made tracking assignments and teacher/parent communication a breeze. We found the Principal to be professional, caring and attentative to the student's as well as our needs. There was disappointment with our child's peer group. Unfortunately, many of the students were from households with a substandard value system. There are many programs offered through the school to enhance or aid in learning (ex. enrichment programs), but you have to inquire prior to enrollment.

Plain City Elementary has an excellent teaching staff as well as a wonderful principal! All the teachers/staff are very loving and treat each child equally and with respect! There are plenty of services available to any student that might need some extra help in certain subjects such as Math and Reading/Writing. The class sizes are small enough for the children to receive one on one assistance from their teachers. The Principal knows each child by name and is always available for any student that might want to talk or just say hello. She greets the children each morning as they are entering school and bids them goodday each afternoon as they are leaving. Her discipline techniques are effective through loving redirection and communication. If you are looking for a wonderful school that will treat your child as it treats all their children, then Plain City Elementary is definitely for you!

We test kids at the end of the year and beginning. Kids that don't keep up during the summer take a giant step backwards. If our kids do complain about homework, we ask them,"Do you want to work for a company, or own the company?"

No. Let the children have a break. Let their minds focus on being children. They'll have plenty of homework when they go back to school. I would not even consider enforceing summer homework for my children. They need stress free playtime.

Yes. Of course summer is for fun however they can take a brake from homework 2 weeks or so, not the whole summer. If you teach a child the importance of learing they will enjoy the homework even in the summer.
