Lorbeer Middle School

i am currently a student at lorbeer, and the main area where the school goes wrong is the dress code. the dress code is to keep us from stressing about fashion and focus more on acadamics. But if anything, the dress code is actually making us stress more about our clothes and dress code violations, that it interferes with our academics, especially a specific administrator who has made it her number 1 goal to bust as many kids as possible for being in inproper dress. furthermore, we are losing kids to nearby schools because they don't want to deal with this, lowering our population. last year we had a teacher get transported to another school because of this. However, besides the dress code, Lorbeer is extremely good academics wise, having some of the best teachers with the best system for learning. My only other issue is that there are very few electives, but if you can easily overlook that and the horrible dress code, then lorbeer will make a fine place for any kid, so long as the dress code doesn't drive them insane.

We are going on our second year! The first year was rough. I heard from the office more concern about dress code violations then I did about my sons failing grades. I think the school is more concerned with appearance then with the passing of the students. If you take the time to call all the teachers and get the school staff involved, your child has a great chance at success.

Lorbeer has fantastic, dedicated teachers but they have completely missed the point with the dress code. The whole point is so that the kids can focus on academics rather than fashion but there is a certain administrator that has made it her mission to terrorize the kids that she doesn't like and give detentions, even when they are in code. In the end, the kids actually end up stressing out about the clothes more than anything elser. This has been the most stressful two years of school ever, I would have never enrolled my child if I had known that the majority of our time woud be spent dealing with this issue rather than actually learning. It's as if asserting power over middle schoolers and breaking their will is the main objective here. I know that there are several students and parents that feel the same way but don't speak up and encourage them to do so.

Lorbeer has some outstanding and very dedicated teachers but they are severly restricted by the administrative staff. Availability and quality of classes/programs are going downhill quickly because of this. Student and parent moral is also going down. It is true that they are more obsessed with wardrobe issues and appearances than helping the students to succeed and grow. I think parent involvement has declined because of this.
