The teachers at Claxton Elementary really care and work hard to make certain that their students are prepared for the next level. The school is well organized, clean and safe. Teachers and staff go out of their way to help under-prepared children, but sometimes to the extent that they don't have the time to work with those who 'need' a faster pace, but this is common to all schools at the elementary level (even private). Unfortunately, parent participation is lacking. There are a few who really step up and work a lot of hours to help, but there are many more who don't even bother to visit on parent-teacher day. Those giving the school a very low rating are probably doing so without ever volunteering themselves.

i attended claxton k-6 and my children will attend this school. i would hope that the discipline has become a factor. i want my kids to succeed and the only way is make sure they have responsibilies even in kindergarten. i like the teachers. even though they have been through three principles in three years dosen't mean anything! we better be lucky that we have them. i hope that the teachers continue the hard work to help my child learn and grow with each coming year.

I am not happy at all with this school. The lunch time is only about 20 minutes and that's not enough time for the children to be able to eat. The school needs some work and the leadership is very poor.
