The gift Edison gives our children cannot be measured - the mental flexibility to think in two different languages from kindergarten on. And the sense of community is wonderful.

Our older son went to Edison as is in 6th grade at JAMS now. His Spanish is wonderful and he can read practically anything in English or Spanish. Our older son is in 1st grade and getting tremendous added value out of the bilingual curriculum. For both of them, learning in 2 languages has helped them refine listening skills and requires them to think more before they answer questions. Edison is a wonderful school with outstanding teachers.

We LOVE Edison. My daughter is in 2nd grade and can read, write, and converse in Spanish, in spite of her parents not speaking the language at all. The community of staff, families and students is beautiful and dedicated to the goal of having a great education experience for all the children. Everyone here feels lucky to be here. The principal is the very best, she is an amazing communicator and you can see her pride in the school and children at every event, because she attends them all.

We test kids at the end of the year and beginning. Kids that don't keep up during the summer take a giant step backwards. If our kids do complain about homework, we ask them,"Do you want to work for a company, or own the company?"

No. Let the children have a break. Let their minds focus on being children. They'll have plenty of homework when they go back to school. I would not even consider enforceing summer homework for my children. They need stress free playtime.

Yes. Of course summer is for fun however they can take a brake from homework 2 weeks or so, not the whole summer. If you teach a child the importance of learing they will enjoy the homework even in the summer.
