Fern has the best teachers ever! All three of my children got their atart at this school and have grown into successful adults.
I have two daughters in 2nd grade attending Fern Elementary, I am very happy with the professionalism of their teachers and all the staff at Fern that I have interface with. Our 2nd grade teachers Ms. Tennile, Ms.Garrison and Ms. Vega, are excellent, they care, they teach and communicate with the students and parents. I highly recommend Fern Elementary School.
I believe Fern Elementary school to be a poor academic learning facility. The teacher to parent communication is non-existant, multiple requests pertaining to a student's performance go unanswered, and progress reports are late or incomplete. State testing shows consistently poor performance, especially in Mathematics. Weekly updates are not sent out weekly, and sometimes months go by in between updated information. The staff is often reluctant and late in answering requests for information. Extra-curricular activities are marginal. Class sizes increasing greatly next year which will lead to even worse academic performance.
Fern is a very warm, vintage feeling school with a big heart! The parent community is coming together to do great things for the kids.
