We're in our 5th year with ORCA (3 students, grades 1, 4 & 8). This innovative new way of public education is awesome - provided you are willing to invest the time and energy to serve as a Learning Coach. The program is dynamic - incorporating feedback and improving each year. You can track your students progress down to the individual lesson, so no surprises at semester end. Great (highly-qualified) certified teachers, and the personalized flexibility to move at the student's own pace. Plus, it costs the state less per pupil. Virtual public schooling is here to stay!

ORCA has proven to be top notch where it come to areas where most brick and mortar schools have failed. their curriculum is very challenging but has also been able to turn a student around on how they look at a subject. Their staff has made it a point to take the time to keep in contact with their students as well as their parents. It teaches the student to be more self sufficient and work on time management on their own. It has parent getting more involved as Learning Coaches than they probably would have in a more traditional setting. All in all it helps all types of student find their stride and feel good about their accomplishments.

We enrolled in ORCA this year after 9 years in the 'brick and mortar' public schools in West Linn. This has been a lifesaver for my 2 children, now in 8th and 9th grade, who hated the group work and the distractions in the regular schools. With ORCA they can focus on their academics but still have plenty of contact with classmates via webmail and during field trips. The materials are fantastic and it's a great option for a parent who wants to be more involved, especially if you are frustrated with the level of communication from your regular school. ORCA is an online school and communication is excellent all around - technology is utilized to the maximum for efficiency in presenting curriculum as well as keeping parents and students informed of progress and test results. Superb!

It's nice not having the intense pressure of peers, and TEACHERS, on your back. It's so cool to have a actual school atmosphere, minus the pressures, in the comfort of my home. I have nothing but good to say about ORCA. I went to public school clear to my 9th grade year, and I had horrible grades, I didn't like the atmosphere, and I couldn't believe how it seemed the teachers only cared about students who either had straight A's, where going to go to college, or where in football. In connections, I have one-on-one teacher communication, via webmail, or the simple use of the phone. ORCA also offers school field trips! (though, they can sometime be hard to attend because of location, but atleast they try.) I love my school, and thank God every day for blessing me with this school, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY Recommend Oregon Connections Academy!
