I absolutely LOVE Bales Elementary School.. I have gotten to know the principal, office staff, teachers and other parents. I have spent the last three and a half months volunteering in my daughters classroom. Yes, there are issues but minor, the type every school has. Especially with diminishing resources. I have found Bales to be a wonderful learning environment for my daughter and am looking forward to another school year for her! I would encourage all parents to stop in and see their child's learning environment and give their teachers some much needed support.

We recently transferred our child to Bales, and we are very pleased with the result. Our child is happier and feels more at home. If it's your goal to let your child succeed amidst a multi-cultural and diverse group of students then this is a great place. The faculty is always responsive and the front office and Administration is extremely communicative. For those reviews that say they are not, I would dare to say it is because of the parent's lack of communication, not the school. Parents often forget that it is their effort put forth at home that also matters. Relying solely on the school is an ignorant move. They are our children and if we expect them to succeed and excel we must do our part in our home. Originally from New York State, education is extremely important to us and Bales is currently a Performing Plus school and is doing the very best they can with the resources they have. If there was more parent participation I am sure this school would rank in the Excellence category.

They could be doing much more to earn money by collecting more then just BoxTops & Soup Labels. There are Capri Sun Drink Pouches, Used cell phones, laptops, empty ink/toner cartridges. They should look at TerraCycling.com What is PTA REALLY doing?

It is great to teach our kids to give to others-within limits. Support without demanding! I boycott school fundraisers; donate elsewhere to show real value in helping where needed.

From the asking perspective (such as schools asking students to donate to causes) frequent appeals for donations creates real problems for families who cannot afford to donate to every appeal or cause. Stop pressuring kids for money.
