I have a Kindergartener and 6th grader at this school and have been very pleased with the teachers (excellent) and the staff.
My son and my two daughters go to this school. It could use some more disipline and the cafeteria lunch is below average but it is a great school.
Island Creek is a wonderful neighborhood school. My daughter is in her second year there, and I am very happy with the education she is receiving. We nearly went the private school route but are now thrilled with our decision to use the public school system. The school does an excellent job with differentiation in the classroom, allowing all students to succeed to their potential. Emphasis is placed on good character, and the program they use to encourage it is evident throughout the school day. Teachers are responsive. The principals are professionals yet very accessible to the parents. The PTA is active. No school is perfect, but we have no regrets about our decision to send our daughter to Island Creek.
Our son attended the PAC program at Island Creek for 8 months, and it was an amazing, supportive, stimulating environment for him. The school's principal has a strong background in special education and we were never made to feel like outsiders while we were there. It was very sad to leave when he returned to his base school.
