The support for teachers, especially new teachers, by the principal of this school is unsatisfactory. A principal should give the teachers the same positive support, encouragement, and feedback that she would like to have from her administrators. I was a paraprofessional at this school for 4 years and a teacher for 2 years. I never had a problem until last year when the new principal arrived. If the students are going to succeed, it's going to take support from the administration to the principal to the parents.

As the new principal of Sam Houston Elementary I encourage all parents to join us in the academic success of their children. Please come by the school and visit or contact me if you have concerns. We are committed to making school a place where children come to learn, feel safe, and grow in both academics and the social aspect of community.

I loved most of the teachers at Houston when my daughter attended PreK there. Parental Envolvement in the school is little to none, I was one of 4 on the PTA board (2 others were faculty). The school has gotten a lot of renovations with a recent bond passing and it looks great! If you are looking to move to this area, I personally would look around and choose possibly Eisenhower as a much stronger school. We recently bought a home and moved out of this schools area.
