I have found this middle school to be as good for the students as the parent and student make it. The administrators are excellent and the staff is mostly made up of caring, professional educators who are helping us struggle through low CA test scores. Since I help at the school I see the many extra hours the staff puts in to try to help our children succeed. Yes, I have had problems in the past but I find that open honest communication is the key. We moved here from the Southern Caliofnria area and I find a different set of problems here, most of which includes a small set of parents with a loud voice who want to tear things down instead of working with the school and brining everything up.

Do not send your children to this school. We have lived in this county for about 4 years now and it is the only middle school available. The teachers, principle's, etc.. (except a chosen few) do not care what happens to your child as long as they are being paid.

The quality of academic programs is poor at best: tutoring is essentially unavailable unless a special request is made. Music, art and other activities are sorely lacking, and parent involvement is low (to the best of my knowledge). Oak Hill's policies, such as dress code, are either over-the-top or out-dated. Most of Oak Hill's text books and academic materials are also out-dated. In addition to being grossly overcrowded, Oak Hill Middle School continues to have a history of student bullying.

I applaude the improvements made to the school, but it obviously has a long way to go.

If parents are willing to drive the extra distance, why wouldn't they be allowed to choose? Every school is not a match for every child and parents know their children best ... More »

Definitely! I believe that families should be allowed to attend any school they want, because there are some who went to a good school and parents want what's best for their kids. Even education.

Families should be able to attend any school they wish.
