I am currently a teacher at Dorn Primary Center and I am proud to work there. Our staff is dedicated to providing the best educational experience possible to our students. We work hard to differentiate our lessons to challenge all students, and we support all different levels of learners. Dorn Primary Center is one of a kind because our students are our first priority.

My daughter is a student of this school. Previously she went to Noonan's. My daughter was reading in pre-k. At this point because there is a lack of lesson plans my daughter is not being challenged. Everyday I receive papers from school, the papers are all printed from the internet and mass copied (no work for the teacher.) No workbooks, or lessons, etc like when I was younger...I'm paying 8,900 in taxes and have idea what is being done with it. The teacher do not communicate with the parents, there are errors as far as keeping track of attendance. The lunches are not healthy...these are just a few of the problems

You've heard of No Child Left Behind? Well, in this school high achievers and average students are totally left behind. It's a great school if you are ESL. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

The principal is engaged and involved. The teachers care about their charges and go above and beyond for students that need extra help. Both of my kids are on behavioral modification programs and the teachers and the rest of the staff have gone well beyond what anyone would have considered even an above average school system. Both Quin and now Dorn have been a testament to District 117 and the phenomenal teachers in it.

Teachers who are firm, tough, yet fair, are mislabeled as, "bullies." This is such a ridiculous and false accusation. I got a tough job but I love my job and I care about the students. People don't have a clue what I do or the challenges... More »

How I handled it varied depending on the circumstances. Teacher bullying is child abuse-proove it 1st! If teacher/pricipal/staff won't stop-go above their heads-Seek help from PTO's,administration, schoolboard, media, even CPS-Child Protective Services.

No one should put up with this. Take it as high as you need to go and follow up everything in writing. Even so far as going to your local paper. School A tolerates bullying and won't help children being victimized. They will listen after that!
