This is our first year at Ringgold Elementary and I am so impressed with the teachers and staff. Mr Raines himself is one of the most hands on principals I believe I have ever met. He personally helped my child when her vocabulary words were too easy. He went and found another vocabulary book that was harder for her, to make sure she was being challenged. He makes every parent feel important. You know that he wants the best for your child. My child is in the Horizon program which is their gifted program and is thriving in there and I feel being challenged to reach her potential. The way the teachers and staff care for the students it is no wonder we were chosen this year to be a Ga. School of Excellence for 2006. That is something that we already knew but now so does everyone else.

My daughter and son attend Ringgold Primary and Elementary, respectively. The teachers and staff are wonderful- friendly, hard-working, and always helpful. I can't praise them enough. They work hard to meet the needs of all the students- from the gifted, to those that need a little more help, & to those with special needs. Tutoring is offered after school, as well as other enrichment programs (clubs) and currently they have a grant offering an after-school program full of fun and learning activities- free. They also have summer camp (12 days). They kids always look forward to going. Parent involvement is always encouraged.

My son, has been at RPS and RES since kindergarten. He will be in 5th grade this year and we have loved our time spent here. RES has the most caring teachers and new principal, former vice principal, Mr. Raines, is doing a wonderful job! We look forward to our younger son, attending RPS in 2006.

We love RES! My oldest son attended RES from 2nd-5th grades. My yongest is now in 5th grade. We have been impressed with the overall quality of the teachers. Mr.G is the BEST! My youngest had him last year and really grew-up in Mr.G's class. He is in the gifted program and in the pod which changes classes. I feel he is getting a quality education because he has the best of the best teachers and is thriving. We feel that the teachers and principals, Mr.Burroughs and Mr.Raines, genuinely care for the students. Another unsung hero at RES is Coach Sanders. We need more teachers like him. He and Mr. G are both strict, fair, genuine and caring. They have a high level of expectations and hold students, parents, and other teachers to those standards. I have been quite involved w/RES and have loved all of my years volunteering. Thanks!

We test kids at the end of the year and beginning. Kids that don't keep up during the summer take a giant step backwards. If our kids do complain about homework, we ask them,"Do you want to work for a company, or own the company?"

No. Let the children have a break. Let their minds focus on being children. They'll have plenty of homework when they go back to school. I would not even consider enforceing summer homework for my children. They need stress free playtime.

Yes. Of course summer is for fun however they can take a brake from homework 2 weeks or so, not the whole summer. If you teach a child the importance of learing they will enjoy the homework even in the summer.
