While I respect the heartfelt critiques of Creekside Elementary School posted by a couple of parents, I would like to note that in three years (2003-2006) Creekside gained over 100 API points (649 to 754)and won a prestigious Star School Award in 2006 from the Business for Education Excellence Foundation. This sort of academic progress does not come from a school wide 'hit and miss' program. It comes from teachers, parents, and student working towards a common vision for improvement. The school has had one of the strongest co-curricular reading programs in the region with the data to prove it -- and a model school library program. It also has had a system of triennial reviews of student performance K-6 that is second to none in Monterey County. Other comments about some teachers not welcoming volunteers are accurate. Work continues with teaching staff in an area that does need improvement.
I am a single parent that works two jobs 7 days a week, really don't have much time to teach my 7-year old at home. I can't speak for other parents and I don't know about other teachers in Creekside, but my daughter loves her teacher! She loves to talk about the school, her friends, and Ms. Wong (her first grade teacher). My daughter used to be shy and timid, and I was thrilled to see her open up and bloom into a happy flower!

My son started here last year, his 4th grade teacher was amazing, young, vibrant and really cared about my son. I got calls and updates all the time! She had him doing big reports, extra credit and he taught me stuff on the computer! My son now loves to read (a struggle before), and is excited about school. The school does have some problems with facilities and construction, but I think that will end soon. The teachers here make the school!

My son attends to Creekside Elementary School and we both love it! It's a really great school all of his cousins attends there as well and I must say that Creekside teachers have a way to teach our children all of the posibilities that you would never imagine that they are capable of doing! My son never had day care, pre-kinder or head start! He came in to kindergaten with out knowing hardly anything and now he was student of the month for most improvement and is now going to 1 st grade! Creekside is the best school in Monterey County! There teachers are the BEST and teaches the BEST!!
