We moved within the Waconia School district a year ago and specifically chose our house in a neighborhood in order to attend Bayview Elementary. We are very fussy about the school our children attend and have been extremely satisfied with the well rounded education our children are receiving at Bayview. The staff is fabulous to work with, there are many great ways to get involved and plenty of activities for families to attend . The PTO for Bayview is well run and in general, most parents and families participate and help out whenever needed from what I have observed. If you are questioning whether or not to send your child to Bayview, look no further. You won't be disappointed!

Great school! The teachers we have had so far are great! I believe an involved parent makes a huge difference anywhere. People that just think of school as a daycare are missing a lot. If you think the school should do it all and you can sit back, you re mistaking. My family and neighbors love the district!

My son has attended Bayview K-2. He loves it there and so do my husband and I. Teachers he has had have been very helpful. They have been willing to go above and beyond...sending home extra work, emailing to check in if they have noticed slight changes in behavior, really getting to know my son and how he learns, etc. The principal is wonderful. He regularly walks the halls, playground, classrooms, cafeteria to stay connected. He knows his students and their families. My son struggles with reading and math and has benefitted from services I didn't know about until it was brought to my attention. As far as I know, parent involvement is excellent. We are very blessed to have such a great school near us!

My child's teacher has been very condescending towards us, has misrepresented our child's behavior/response to an incident (not bad behavior but of him being upset about something) to place guilt and shame on us, has given unsolicited advice on how to run our household and has stated she has done something when she has not. She did not take seriously or take any action to an incident our child had with another child were on the playground was harmed physically by another child that was brought to her attention by us. I am not certain I can keep my child in a classroom when my son can see she is saying one thing and doing another.

If parents are willing to drive the extra distance, why wouldn't they be allowed to choose? Every school is not a match for every child and parents know their children best ... More »

Definitely! I believe that families should be allowed to attend any school they want, because there are some who went to a good school and parents want what's best for their kids. Even education.

Families should be able to attend any school they wish.
