I am the parent of a Kindergartener in Mrs. Monahan's class. She is an extremely devoted and caring teacher and my son is so lucky to have her. This school is amazing!
I am the parent of a 'K' in Miss Zaker's class, he loves it. I also have a 5th grader who is attending the Connor Shaw Center. I could not be more pleased with all aspects of Connor Shaw. When she was at Green Garden last year she & I dealt with major 'bullying' issues. I am very happy to say that we are no longer dealing with that issue! The only issue that I have is the K-12 riding on the same bus. However, the bus drivers seem to keep all of the students in check. If I were you I would stay in District 207-u. My husband & i are both in education and we are pleased with the district overall. As the previous parent stated, every district and school has their issues.
I am responding to the recent concern of a parent who is pleased with Green Garden elementary school but is concerned about the 5th grade level and up. I have children who have attended those schools and I am pleased with them so far. No matter where you go, there will be challenges to face. I don't feel it is necessary to move out of the district. Good luck with your decision.
My son currently attends Miss Zaker's kintergarden class and loves it! You can't find the small class size of 16 anywhere else. I am very happy with the Green Garden elementary school in general. Even though he would like to ride the bus both to and from school, we do drive our son to school in the morning as school starts very early at 7:50am. He would have to be at the bus stop by 7:00am (even though we live 5 mins away!) Although, I am happy with Green Garden Elementary, I am very concerned about the Peotone School district from 5th grade through the High School level. I have have heard of alot of problems at that grade level and am seriously thinking of moving out of this school district because of it.
