A great school with great teachers(for the most part) and a lot to do around campass. I agree with 11/15/08, the parents in the earlery posted comments were just looking to blame the shcool.

I agree with the student who posted on 11-15-08. Chico HS is an award winning school with lots of diversity, opportunities and offers program curricular choices designed to meet the needs of all types of students. I have five children who graduated from CHS. All went on to college and graduated. Four went on to receive advanced, professional degrees, and have good jobs in their fields. The other started and now runs a very successful business. Chico High gave my children the life skills and educational tools they needed to do well, not only in college, but in their lives and careers as well.

I feel that the parents who formerly posted were probably misinformed and over protective of their children. Looking to blame the school. Chico High has countless opportunities to take advanced classes and succeed in different programs. And the general environment of student unity can't truly be rivaled anywhere else. If their students had such problems with the staff, they should have sought help from the counseling staff who is always more that willing to oblige most requests. As for pinpointing the school for having tenured teachers, I challenge you to find any other school without a similar problem. Chico High was a great home to me, and there are many more things to learn in that environment besides academics.

If you truly mean a shy kid who wants to be outgoing, then I would help them interact with one child at a time. If you are talking about an introverted child, refer to http://www.carlkingdom.com/10-myths-about-introverts

Find something you are good at or enjoy doing a lot, just one thing. You'll gain confidence and meet other kids that enjoy that activity too. Mine was singing in choir. I wasn't good at anything else but that built my confidence for other things... More »
