There are a mix of teachers at this school. My son had a great second grade treacher, but his third grade teacher has a lot to be desired. He interjects too many personal stories and my son would come home with some questionable quotes from his teacher. He should not be teaching or should be closely supervised and mentored at least.

We moved here last year and I really can't say anything good about Rancho Gabriela at this time. My son was attending a Phoenix school with an IEP and was doing very well were he would not need the IEP any longer. However, when he finished this year with Rancho Gabriela according to his test scores he is below average. I don't understand how this could happen. When I asked the teacher if she communicates with my son's IEP instructor or even work together to see how my son is doing, she stated 'no I don't know what he does there'. This surprised me because when my son attended a Phoenix school the teacher, IEP instructor, and the principle were all involved. I don't think this is a good school for anyone with special needs, even if it's in one area, as in reading.

I have two boys attending Rancho Gabriela. Kindergarten and Second grade. They both are excelling wonderfully. I transferred my older son last year here from a Charter School nearby. There were a few issues at the Charter School that I feel didn't get addressed quick enough. Since I moved my son he has advance wonderfully. I had heard since I moved here that public schools are no good here. I think Rancho Gabriela is a great school. If you pay attention to what is going on with you child there should be no problems. By the way, my son in kindergarten is more advanced in reading and math than when my older son was in kinder at the charter school. The teachers at Rancho Gabriela are awsome!! Thank you Rancho Gabreila!!
