El Centro has a full computer lab, exellent library, special ed program, playground, and a before and after school program. El Centro emphasis is on reading and math. It has some exceptional teachers such as Mrs. Morse, Mr Silverman, Mr Sheldon and Mrs Caffo. The school has band and choir. The Sue the choir leader does an exceptional job for our annual Christmas program. There are two major Field Trips one for 4th Grade/Coloma and 5th Grade Marin Headlands. Parent involvement is encouraged, there is a small core group of parents who do an exceptional job. All around it is a great school.

All day kindergarten. Stong emphasis on reading as a foundation of education. Special eduation classrooms on campus with intergation where possible into the regular classroom as well as some reverse mainstreaming. Excellent exposure for regular ed children to be exposed, learn and help with children with disabilities. Excellent Faculty. Updated Computer Lab, Library and Playground as well as a great parent club with a small but very active core group of parents who are always looking to include new parents into the group! Small school under 300 students in a K-5 format. K-3 have only 20 students per class. Computer in every classroom. Tree Farm, Friendship Garden, Before and After Child Care on site.

I go in every Monday and help with the Kindergarten reading group or play word games. Then I eat lunch with my child. I also attend and bring things to all school parties. Since I volunteer only on Mondays I do not burn out. : )

Our school gives us mandatory hours (15) that we must give to the school in one way or the other. It is very easy if you don't mind stuffing envelopes or being a lunch mom. I think they even give working moms the opportunities to work on paperwork.... More »
