My sons attend Fern. I loved this school prior to the retirement of our last principal. The principal hired to replace her could not be worse. She makes zero effort to work with parents. It's her way or the highway. She seems more interested in becoming the next Fisler or Laguna Road than the best interests of the children. Don't ever think of making any requests such as getting a particular teacher or continuing holiday traditions that have been part of that school for years. The answer is no before you ask. You can make phone calls or email her but you will not get a response. It's a shame because it's such a wonderful school. Can't wait for the district to do its principal shuffle. We got a lemon! Save Fern!

Fern Drive Elementary School and its staff including the front office and teachers, really care about the students. The cirriculum is very well structured and appropriate for the grade levels. The parents are also very dedicated.

I have had two sets of children at Fern Drive, my stepkids and my kids. Both sets have had wonderful experiences there and have received a quality education. The dedication of the teachers, the staff and the parents is what makes Fern Drive such a great school! I feel very fortunate that all of my kids have been able to attend this school!

We test kids at the end of the year and beginning. Kids that don't keep up during the summer take a giant step backwards. If our kids do complain about homework, we ask them,"Do you want to work for a company, or own the company?"

No. Let the children have a break. Let their minds focus on being children. They'll have plenty of homework when they go back to school. I would not even consider enforceing summer homework for my children. They need stress free playtime.

Yes. Of course summer is for fun however they can take a brake from homework 2 weeks or so, not the whole summer. If you teach a child the importance of learing they will enjoy the homework even in the summer.
