I believe that teachers at Greenwood are very good, but stressed and unable to get needed resources and supplies for teaching. I see stressed teachers, inadequate staff support, and poor students who don't recieve the proper classroom attention that they need and that they deserve. Where I moved from the state had the AR Reading program in place. My children who were taught reading under this model are now at college reading levels, and the oldest is 14yrs old! yet my 1st grader here, can barely read, has no drive to read, and is mostly discouraged about reading. Teachers are pushing for this program, and are getting nowhere!! What is wrong with this picture?! I love the teachers, I dislike the programs and support these schools lack. I am dissapointed in the education my young children are getting at the school, dispite the best efforts of teachers and student teachers.

The lack of respect from students towards staff is horrible. Students are allowed to be disruptinve in class, hit, kick, and scream, and the administration seems to do nothing. Shouldn't student/staff safety be a priority? The current principal (not Mrs. Miller) spends the majority of her time in her office with her door shut! Shouldn't she be out in the classrooms, checking on student learning? What is she doing in there all day?The district and some teachers seem overly concerned with making sure students improve their reading skills...can they read fast enough to pass a one minute timed test? When in reality, shouldn't the teachers and district be more concerned with are the children understanding what is being read? Not the best school on post by a long shot. The district seems to forget about this school as it has not been upgraded in many years. It's pathetic!

I absolutely do not like this school. The secretary interrupts you anytime you try to speak. Both parking lots are horrilbe. The bottom parking lot has pot holes constantly. The principal, Mrs. MIller (sweet lady), has attempted to keep the top parking lot les congested, but it just doesn't work. People drive up to the top parking lot and park in no-parking areas which cause children to nearly get hit, and accidents with other vehicles nearly happen. As for the school, itself, it's as if 'benchmarks' are all that matter to the teachers. We came from a school in Oklahoma where the students came first, and here it's as though all that matters is the benchmarks and scores and that a child can read fast enough. Well, I'm sorry, but just because a child can read quickly does not mean that they have comprehended everything they read.
