My two sons are both at summit - most recently we moved our first grader back after a brief and very disappointing try with public schools. The teachers, administration, philosophy and facilities are all wonderful. Children are loved, and encouraged to love learning - and each other. The academics are top notch. I don't know what the 'sour grape' parents who complain about the school being a business and corner cutting issues are talking about - not sure what their experiences have been, but we started at the school about the time the 'new' owners took over and have seen nothing but improvements - new floors in community areas, resurfaced desktops, amazing events, amazing extracurricular activities (pottery, chinese, fun bus, more), new and highly qualified teachers, the removal of questionable staff and an overall feeling that this is a great school that is well run & focused on the kids.

Summit Private School changed owners in 2007, since then the atmosphere has changed dramatically. I decided to take my children out of Summit because now the school is not much about learning and more about profit. This change of goals was very notorious and permeated daily activities at the school, sometimes creating tense situations between parents, teachers and the new owners.

Overall a positive experience. We had one teacher who spent the year planning to leave and open her own school, and my child was ignored and we nearly left but the rest of the teachers have been exceptionally good, especially the art and gym teachers. Children are fed organic food, perform in original productions, and learn to play musical instruments beginning in first grade. The science curriculum is too light in the early grades, I think, but I would likely think so about all schools.

The teachers are wonderful which is what keeps us and our child at Summit. But the school is a business - and it shows. Corners are cut and the amount and quality of classroom materials/computers seems to vary from class to class, depending on how long teachers have been at the school, parental donations and private investment by the teachers themselves. Shame.
