We also moved to St Charles from out of state and we agree 100% with the out-of -stater below. Everyone here thinks this is 'so great' but if you have lived elsewhere and attened other schools, you will be disappointed. The St Charles curriculum is not very good. I could go on and on with examples about that but can't here. Also, there is no gifted programs or accomodations made for those students who come into the district ahead of grade level (believe me, my kids were above grade level here and they are not gifted, just your average student). In fact, my first grader was doing 2nd grade level work according to their curriculum. I will agree that everyone is nice and friendly but I want more out of a school than that -- I want solid teaching and learning!!!!
I had 4 of my 5 kids attending Wasco in the 2007-2008 school year. We moved to this area from Chicago in Jan 2006. We could not be happier! We are more than satisfied with all the academics, extra ciricular, the PTO, and the all around friendliness of this school. I feel it holds the standards of a privet school but in public one. I think anyone thinking of coming to Wasco will not be disappointed. My now 6th grader is sad to be leaving for middle school.

We moved to St Charles from out of state. I had 3 kids at Wasco, 1, 3, and 4th. This school district is the worse we have ever attended in comparison to ones in NM, GA, and MO!! I pulled my kids and sent them to a private school. People from out of state with other experiences tend to hate this school district, peopel from St Charles or the surrounding area 'love' it. Beware if you are an out-of-stater, you will be disappointed. Look at Geneva or Batatvia!!

I could not be happier about Wasco School. I have two kid attending and both have attended since kindergarten. The principal, Dr. Abhalter is wonderful. He is a very 'hands on' caring and involved principal. I have seen him stop in classrooms to see whatever is going on whether it be the wedding ceremony of a cherished classroom pet or to be a guest reader for another class. He is regularly outside when the kids arrive to school as well as when they leave. He is also at every 'McDonald's night', school sing, etc. I also can't say enough about the staff and teachers. They really seem to work as a team and they genuinely care about the school. I am repeatedly amazed at how organized the school is run. Many parents, including me, volunteer in the classrooms, library or to help with special activites. Wasco is a wonderful school.
