Don't believe all the hype. Academics at this school leave a lot to be desired. My child was a straight A student when he attended the Academy, but struggled academically when he transferred to public school. The academics in the public high school honors and college prep classes were much more rigorous and advanced than those at Harrisburg Academy. It makes me sick to think of all the money we spent on Academy tuition believing we were getting top notch academics. What a disappointment.
Harrisburg Academy is a great gem of a school in the Harrisburg/Hershey/Carlisle metro area. We love the program - the balance of strong academics with the well roundedness of a liberal arts curriculum (art, Spanish, music, computers). My children are truly known by their teachers and feel very safe and comfortable. I cannot imagine my children attending school anywhere else.
The Upper School is at an all time high with regard to enrollment and for good reason. We love the culture, the high end academics and personal attention by teachers, staff, and administration.
I think the EC/LC division of the Harrisburg Academy is excellent. The teachers are dedicated and talented - the parents are always welcomed and they work with the needs of an individual child. My daughter loves school and she is blossoming because of the program they have at the Academy.
