I'm a former student of KHS, and I would not recommend enrolling your child in this district. I was a decorated athlete, participant in extracurricular activities such as Art, NHS and Drama, and graduated in the top ten of my class. It's not that I have a grudge against the school, but teacher apathy is overwhelming, emphasis is placed on football, and there is no participation in UIL Academics. Discipline is also extremly bias according to socical standing withn the town and school. As the old superintendent, Jerry Roberts, has retired, changes may happen under the guidance of Jody Clements. But just from a recent graduate, I would never think of enrolling my kids in this school. Academically, I learned our of my own will in high school because all I learned at KHS were social skills.

Not a great school at all. Many of the teachers are coaches, which isn't always a bad thing as some of them are great teachers. Unfortunately, many of them are not and don't teach at all and just hand the class assignments out of the book. Decent extracurricular activities. The Safety/Discipline system is much more corrupt than it should be, often causing many students to get into trouble for things they have not even done. There is almost no parental involvement to speak of, either, which is a shame.

With my son, no, but realized it's not a bad idea. For my daughter, we keep the concert programs where she played, and keep flyers of events where she volunteered. When college app time comes, she won't have to wing it like her brother did.
