I moved to this district hoping that the schools would be better for my children rather than city schools. I was so wrong! My children have been black balled at this school by the students, teachers, and administration for not being the cookie cutter students that they want there. The schools 'mission' sounds great but it is nothing like what the school really is. I've raised my kids to be themselves and to be the best at who they are. W-L does not like this. My children have been punished, humiliated and ignored on a daily basis for being nice, not being 'proper Christians', for being academic achievers, not being in school sports and having an opinion. My high school student is going to home school this coming year due to the constant torment. My child's words, 'They treat me as if I'm not a human being'. Enough is enough!
Things have really gone downhill at W-L in the last few years. The leadership is extremely poor, the teachers don't feel supported and the morale from kids and teachers is very poor. Until the leadership changes, I don't see the positive feelings returning. The teachers, at least the ones who have been around for several years, are knowledgeable and caring. Unfortunately, they don't have much say in what is happening there. As a parent, I am extremely disappointed in the turn the school has taken, and I wouldn't send my kids through the school again.
I just graduated from Warrensburg-Latham this past year, and I must say that my experience there was one of a kind. The school as a whole is a very safe school and I wouldn't worry about my kids attending there, they'll make plenty of friends in no time and keep those relationships for life if you let them.
