I graduated from Field High School and I believe the quality of education is topnotch. I had wonderful, interesting, and concerned teachers who took the time to work with me when I needed help.
The Field School District ranks second in Portage County on 18-19 of the 23 measurements used on the state's report card published in local newspapers. We have not needed to use pay to play programs in our distict due to the fiscal responsibility of our administration. We have good art, music, theatre programs, and outstanding sports programs available to all students who are interested. There is a good level of parent involvement, although there is always room for improvement there, which always benefits the children. After all, isn't that really why we are there, at every game, recital, and conference? The quality of the academic programs could be more challenging, but that is always a difficult task when you are instructing a variety of levels of ability in the same classroom. I believe there could be more opportunities for higher academic achievement if the board would allocate for them.
My daughter entered this system in the 9th grade, has received a quality education up to this writing, is really enjoying the after school sports programs, and has made many very nice friends. With the passing of the levy, the buildings and facilities are receiving a serious upgrade. Mike Harris appears to be a very qualified person to be head principal of the high school. My thoughts are that your child would receive an excellent, well rounded, education from Field High School. Would like to see some availability of industrial arts at this facility.
