My daughter has been at Leon Elem. since Kindergarten. We have experienced a couple of problem's but they have all been fixed in a reasonable amount of time. As far as the 'having a name' goes I have to agree with that to some extent,but it's not just here at this school,it's everywhere. My daughter love's Leon and doesn't want to ever have to leave it. I do not like the fact that click's are already establishing themselves in the 3rd grade. Overall Leon is a good school. You will have your problem's out of all school's. As far as having the principal replaced i'm not sure because he has always solved what problem's we have ran into.
As a teacher at Leon Elem. I feel that we are all doing a great job. We have the standaradized scores to back this up as well as the fact that our elementary UIL has won 1st at our district competions over the past few years. We are a hardworking staff that puts in the extra mile for each kid, every kid. I am a former Leon student and I look forward to raising my kids in this town, at this school. I have taught at other schools and this one, by far, is the best academically.
Leon used to be one the best schools I have ever attended as a student. I now have children who attend this school. It makes me angry to see that there are children who are being over looked because they do not have the right last name. You may think that the kids would do better in a small town school but, in this schools case no. The town is now being over run by drugs, and I see alot of kids getting into drugs that do go to this school. The teaching quality is not great at all. Don't get me wrong there are some great teachers. But there is alot that just do not care. The elemantary princaple needs to be replaced if you ask me. And so does the cleaning staff. I have seen better quality work.
