Although I find the academics at the school to be quite good I feel that having watched my child attend all 4years at BTHS was a mistake. My Teen does dearly love the school but has sacrificed so much to attend and get good grades. The principal expects homewokr to be 2-3 hrs/night but each teacher thinks its their 3 hrs. One teacher who complained that my child was getting an A- in her class and could do so much better if she gave up her one outside activity. Lack of after school mainstream activites is a big drawback to the development of a student. The IB diploma is just not worth the long bus rides and overall sacrifice. I would give it and the staff zero stars if I could. The other MCVS schools are far better.

I am a parent of a freshman and hear all great things about this school. I have met with teachers and most are very nice. Ms Eno, the principal is a wonderful person and a great leader. The work load is vigorous but my child and I knew it would be going in. There are some teachers that update their blogs too late in the day and I wish they would do it earlier. Also there are a couple of teachers that are too hard and kinda rude to their students,. I do not see a need to be rude. Hard ok, but rude and uncaring is another story. I think ALL teachers whether good or bad need to be told to have compassion for their students and take their feelings into account. However I will not allow at least two bad apples to spoil this bunch.!

Biotech is not for the weak hearted. It will take determination to complete the rigorous coursework. The students are so involved in their academics, it gives them little time to worry about the many teen-ager-ish problems in today's high schools. Teachers are dedicated but expect a much higher level/maturity from the kids. If your child catches on quick, then fine, else MUST be a very HARD WORKER. Lack of sleep is the most common issue here. Overall, we are very happy to be away from the drugs/alcohol/pettiness problems of our very affluent area. And they have the most uptodate labs in all hs' in area!

It's pretty cool and I love the teachers. The workload is a bit much, but it's definitely worth it. It really teaches you time management and also has equipment that would be found in an actual biology/chemisty/physics lab. The teachers are really great for the most part and have helped me out a lot. The classes can be a bit stressful (as well as the work!), but the teachers make the lesson so much more enjoyable.
