I graduated from here and I think MSHS is an excellent school! There are certainly a few not so great teachers, but the AP teachers are the best. They really care about the students and are absolutely fantastic at what they do. I know people often say how much they hate MSHS, but I think they're just being angsty and would probably say that about any high school they went to. I kind of think you get what you make out of it, so MSHS can either be a great place or a terrible place, depending on how you decide to look at it. Nevertheless, I love this school! Some of the greatest teachers you will ever meet.
Aside from the typical high school drama that you face at a normal high school -- I feel that MSHS was the worst school I have ever been to. Most school rules like PDA and bullying are not enforced, or are enforced incorrectly. Their system for calling someone in for an excused absence is not only insufficient but most of the time they don't get do it right and it has often lead me into a Saturday school. The school provides no support for teenagers, and everyday I went there I felt like I had no opinion. They have a little thing called Student council, but the only time I ever saw them do anything was passing out ballets for homecoming queen.
This school once offered many different classes for the basic and advanced learners. As of late the budget has decreased and they have had to drop many advanced classes. This means that most kids that should be challenged are not getting what they need to reach their goals. It is true the dress code needs some work, but many teachers feel the pressure when having to enforce a policy that the administration does not support them fully on. It's too bad that parents run the school more then the paid professionals do. Because of their lacked policies, many parents and professionals choose to home school or simply relocate, which to me is very sad. I place it below average due to the fact many schools much smaller in size find a way to offer advanced classes even when the budget is already stretched to the max.
The school recently dropped all of the AP & honors classes along with German 1. They also do not enforce the dress code. This school needs work! On the positive note: they have many great clubs and put on wonderful plays every year!
