My daughter recently started attending Green Middle School. I can truthfully say that I am very proud to have her attend Green. She is involved in volleyball, basketball, and track. She loves every coach she has had, and the quality of the sports programs is outstanding. She is also in the choir, and she is in love with her teacher. I have personally met with every one of her teachers, and can assure you they are people I have high respect for. There are numerous academic programs, and they have a very strong gifted program in place. She is able to take two HS level classes, Geometry and French I. Algebra I is also available. The counselors made her transfer very smooth. I have but one complaint, that there was just a bit more parent involvement, though need not worry, there is some.

Basically, I think this is a good school, but there are a few areas that need addressed. One of the biggest concerns I have and other parents also have is too much homework. I realize that homework is something that is needed, however there should be a limit. Green has a policy that says ten minutes per year but I don't see that anyone pays attention to it. I know sixth graders with two or more hours a night. This is too much. Green students are active and involved in their community. They are involved in sports, scouts, music, dance, ect. This makes a well rounded student. Too much homework makes for some very late nights and this isn't healthy.
