Albemarle is a good school, however, the school is too crowded and your student is likely to be lost in the shuffle if they aren't A+ students.

As a military family, we have experienced several school systems across the country. This school, and the community and parent support it receives, is outstanding!

I agree with the posting of October 10th. The school climate is one that does not support the student who is 'marked as middle'. The school only offers AP, Honers and then an Academic level. This Academic level class does not support the college bound 'B' student, but is there is support the achivement gap sutdnets.

I had 2 children in Albemarle HS. There are some teachers there who are very talented. However, the school is too crowded & the student-teacher ratio is pushing the limits. There were times I sent emails to teachers & because they're so overwhelmed, they couldn't email back within the prescribed 24-48 hrs. There were a couple of teachers who never showed up for Back-to-School night or Parent/Teacher Conference night..ever. I 'loved' that one of the guidance counselors didn't even know the name of my child. Yes, AHS has 'award-winning' clubs & athletics and I discovered that communication for these endeavors are pretty decent. So, why can't the same effort be applied to academics, which are the main reason the kids are in school in the first place?
