My daughter attends this school after going to Vista. I have to say this school is way tougher and demanding, in both school she had AP classes but the difficulty level is far greater in FHS. She needs to work harder for the same grade. On the other hand, Vista is more focused on each student and I got the feeling they really try to give support and there is more guidance readily available for the students and parents. In FHS you have to actively seek that support. Folsom High has sports state awards and way more social activities.

Great school if your child is a jock or a genius. Otherwise, watch out. Many of my child's teachers seem to enjoy getting off topic when teaching. Others have some serious classroom management issues. The principal is clueless about her own staff. According to her, the entire staff is the best. She and her office cronies are also too important to respond to emails. The lady in the front office has an "you're bothering me" attitude if you ask her a question. The counselors are the one saving grace. They seem to understand that it is their job to assist and respond to the needs of ALL of their students.

I have two children in the Special Education Program. Some of their classes are mainstreamed. The teachers in the mainstream classes pay no attention to any of the modifications that both of my children have for the curriculum in their classes.

I'm pretty surprised to see such positive reviews regarding Folsom High School. This past year we struggled with the freshman science program. One teacher spent most of the time talking about his Viet Nam experience rather than teaching science. The alternative was even worse with an arrogant, tenured advanced science teacher who handed out incomplete documents and failed to grade assignments. According to the VP he won't be teaching Freshman science next year....wonder how many Freshman failed this year?????

Teachers who are firm, tough, yet fair, are mislabeled as, "bullies." This is such a ridiculous and false accusation. I got a tough job but I love my job and I care about the students. People don't have a clue what I do or the challenges... More »

How I handled it varied depending on the circumstances. Teacher bullying is child abuse-proove it 1st! If teacher/pricipal/staff won't stop-go above their heads-Seek help from PTO's,administration, schoolboard, media, even CPS-Child Protective Services.

No one should put up with this. Take it as high as you need to go and follow up everything in writing. Even so far as going to your local paper. School A tolerates bullying and won't help children being victimized. They will listen after that!
