Things are not improving at the school. Teachers were reassigned grade levels, seemingly at random. PTO was dissolved, therefore it is much more difficult to know what is going on, volunteering ops have been reduced, etc. Seems to be a much more tense atmosphere this year with teachers and administration. curriculum is fine, but with these changes, will be assessing if it is worth it to stay.

The overall strength of this school is that these students come from families which have involved parents. Children perform well, but likely would perform well at any school. The strength is that education is valued by all families. At times, the instruction can be lack-luster, primarily because behavior is often not an issue. Also, organization (using planners, coordinating tests, parent communication) could really be improved. It looks like there will be no PTO this year. Issues have arisen in the ease of volunteering; the process had gotten complicated. That's disappointing. We continue to keep out children here because we know that the other students come from families with similar values and that it is a more sheltered environment.

My children have attended WMSS for four years and I have been happy with the teachers and administration. I am concerned for next year as so many changes are being implemented. Teachers are being moved all around and they are seriously considering departmentalizing (having students change classes) in third through sixth grades. I think fifth grade is challenging, Children in the fourth grade and below need the support and consistency of having the same teacher. Personally, I think if something works, then it need maintenance - not an overhaul.

Because of the small classes, the children get much more personel attention from the teachers, also everything is done to keep the children focusted and interested in the subject at hand.

Our six-grader Daughter, enjoys the freedom of choice. We allow her to pick and choose as she makes good choices, she has demonstrated responsibility in her decisions. Making (Pizza) & Tomatoes) are Vegetables came from USDA. Freedom of Choice.

No. I prepare my son's lunch just about every day due to his special needs so I know what he is consuming both for him and his class. I want to be aware of all ingredients in all foods/drinks which he is consuming.

If it is to keep allergic kids safe, then no. A strict rule of no peanuts or pb&j should be enough. My child's school had a peanut free table for double insurance. If for "nutritional" reasons, then NO! Since when is pizza a veggie????... More »
