I am a new Blochman parent and have been more than thrilled with my experience so far. The principal as well as the rest of the faculty are above and beyond fantastic. We are currently under way to start up a PTA and have been very pleased by the level of support we have so far from parents as well as faculty and community members. The focus of community service is great and I have been so pleased that my son gets to interact everyday with kids from kindergarten to eighth grade as well as a special education class. My child has the opportunity to interact and build relationships with the severely handicapped students which teaches him empathy and show him that those kids really are just like him in many ways. This has truly been an enriching experience for both my child and myself.
Blochman has gone through many changes in the last few years. Poor managerial decisions seem to have been the biggest problem. Now that there are two new trustees that have devoted a lifetime to the school and have a mind for business there are high hopes. Two new wonderful teachers are also a breath of fresh air that the school was desperate for.
Foxen School is a wonderful school that has been reborn with new management. The teachers are kind, caring and intelligent. The environment teaches the children respect for each other and the greater community. The extracurricular activities include some music, art, light athletics and intergration into the rural community. The Rural environment and community support is the best. The average student/teacher ratio is 11/1. This school is like having a private school for a public price. The parent involvement is tremendous which supplements the computer lab, library, etc. The best elementary school overall when you combine the new test scores, improved environment, teacher quality/ratio and love and care.
